Play & Social Skills

This course is specifically designed for children aged 5-9.
What are social skills?
Social skills are the skills used to verbally and non-verbally communicate and interact with others through gestures, body language and personal appearance. Strong social skills guide how individuals behave in social situations and help them to understand both written and implied rules when communicating with others.
What are play skills?
Play is so much more than just having fun. Play provides your child the opportunity to develop important skills that they will continue to use throughout their lifetime. Learning how to interact with others, compromise, and work together all happens during play. In particular, children learn the important social skills of; communication, cooperation, problem-solving, and perspective-taking.
What will children learn in this course?
Our Play and Social Skills course allows for participants to develop effective social skills through play-based activities. The course also facilitates the growth and practise of essential blocks required for the effective development of social skills including;
- Attention and concentration
- Executive functioning
- Planning and sequencing
- Pre-language skills
- Receptive (understanding) language
- Expressive (using) language
- Self-regulation
