What are Independent Living Skills?
Independent Living Skills comprise a wide range of knowledge and skills that provide individuals with the important tools required to perform daily tasks in their lives and to develop into active and productive members of their communities. Life skills also serve the important function of preparing individuals to act in situations where carers may not be around to help. Life skills are not innate but can be learned and are a crucial part of education to help prepare individuals for the day-to-day challenges of participating in their community, workplace and feeling independent at home.
